Summer Concert

Tabernacl Music Society will hold its annual Summer Concert on Sunday 15th July at Capel y Tabernacl, Derwen Road, Bridgend at 7.00pm. The Tabernacl Choir and orchestra will be performing ‘Mass in D’, a work for orchestra and chorus written by Dame Ethel Smyth (1858 – 1944), an English composer and a prominent member of the women’s suffrage movement.

‘Mass in D’ is a setting of the mass ordinary for vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra, and it is fitting that this work is being performed in the year of the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, which, for the first time, enfranchised women over the age of 30 who met minimum property qualifications.

The choir is pleased to announce that the soloists for this performance are: Alison Shone, Caroline Carragher, Osian Wyn Bowen and Gareth James.

Conductor: Matthew Nash
Organist: Glenn Crooks
Tickets: £12.

Tabernacl Music Society are grateful for the support of Ty Cerdd and the Music Reprieval Trust for this concert.
